  I've finally got some time to do a blog post,and I was struggling about what to write. Part of me would like to speak out on the state of our country, how much trouble we're in at the moment and how tragically it could turn out if God doesn't intervene in this next election. However, I'm quite certain that most of the readers are sick to death of hearing about all the political rhetoric and the non stop speak of bad news, so I thought I would write about something that most of us like to do- eat. As I was writing this, I just finished a delicious  bowl of apple cobbler that my wife Jan brought to me. It had a dollop of Cool Whip on top.... mmmm... heavenly.  Some time back my daughter Autumn came for a visit. She frequently tells us of her culinary skills. She's the baker at a Greek restaurant up north, and I have to admit, she is a good cook. However, not wanting to be outdone, I decided that I would show off some of my own culinary skills and...

  Thunderation! Can you believe it's January 5th already? Time flies when you're having fun huh? I decided to start off my new year right by making a big pot of vegetable soup with venison roast. Actually, I made two pots. I had been bragging about my culinary abilities to several friends and there was quite a bit of interest in my soup. Rather than suffering the humiliation of promising something and then not delivering, I thought I'd better follow through, so I thawed out my last two venison roasts and proceeded to cook. Frankly, that soup came out great! I'd like my name to be mentioned in the same breath as Martha Stewart, Julia Child and Wolfgang Puck. I think I could give the Campbell's Soup company a run for their money. Tom's Soups and Stews- even if you're not hungry, you'll enjoy a bowl of Tom's. As I get older, I find myself unable to pull words out of my head that I know are in there. It's like my brain is constipated or some such thing. Try not to give that mental image too much thought. Another problem that I have involves not being able to remember what I've mentioned before- thus I may end up telling the same humorous story (or what I think is humorous) to the same people more than once. It's not so bad if they are getting older like me and can't remember if I told it before or not, then they just laugh and forget about it until I tell the same story a month or two later. I guess the point I'm trying to make here is that I can't remember if I've done a blog post on potato soup or not. I've done corn chowder, Mexican Quiche, blueberries and cream muffins and corn flakes vs clown flakes. The bottom line is, I've done over 150 posts in the past few years and there's a good chance I may blog about the same thing more than once. If I do,...
